Selection of CEO

Hi friends! Today I am sharing one real story of a CEO of a renowned company who was looking for his next successor who could run his well-established business successfully after him i.e., the next CEO of the organization. Let’s assume Mr Raj is the CEO who is also the owner of the organisation.

Raj was about to retire from his company, and he was quite tensed about Who would be his next successor and how efficiently he would run his well-established organization.

One fine morning, he called a meeting of all his management staff regarding nomination for the post of next CEO of the company. Next day all the office staffs gathered in the meeting. Raj gave a task to all the staff members and on the basis of the evaluation of their performance, selection for the post of the next CEO of the company shall be declared exactly after completion of 6 months. However selection of the same will be done irrespective of current profile of the staffs,  it might be any one , may be Manager , General manager or even Director of the organisation. Raj distributed a small packet which contained some seeds of paddy to all his colleagues and told them to plant these seeds at home, nurture them with utmost care and share the result of sowing these seeds exactly after a span of 6 months.

All members  present in the meeting came back home and started plantation of those seeds.

After two weeks, few office colleagues stared discussing about the progress of their plantation of paddy seeds. One of them told that leaves have come out after sowing of those seeds while the other one said that the seeds have become plants which is now 6 inches in length. So on and so forth continued the gossips among all the members.

Three months passed by.

Office colleagues were again gossiping among themselves about the growth of the seeds. However among all the staff members, One staff named, Nexon was listening to all the gossip.

One evening Nexon came back home from office looking a bit tensed. Seeing him, his wife enquired about the reason of its nervousness.  Nexon told about the task of sowing of seeds given by his CEO and that the status of its plantation provided by his colleagues were quite positive rather than him whose seeds did not grow at all. His wife asked what was exactly the task given by his CEO  in the meeting ? Nexon replied that CEO asked to do plantation of seeds and feed water and fertilizer for its proper growth. His wife advised him to follow and do exactly what hi CEO told to do.

Five months later.

Same types of discussion were going on. One person told that paddy has grown up and now it’s the time for its harvesting and all. However the condition of Nexon’s planted seeds was all the same that showed no growth at all.

After Six months .

 CEO called a meeting . All participants went to attend the meeting with their paddy plant. Nexon denied to attend the meeting but his wife insisted him to go and attend the meeting. Nexon was feeling shy and he sat on the last row.

Meeting commenced, People from the first row started showing their plant and also explained how they have grown this paddy and so on. Raj saw Nexon who was sitting with pot which did not contain any plant. Raj asked him to show his case study. Nexon explained that for the last  months, he did exactly what he was directed to do by the CEO but his seeds did not grow at al.

After reviewing the tasks of all the participants, Raj announced that next CEO OF the company will be Nexon.

Raj said that he had distributed paddy seeds which were actually boiled seed. Boiled seed can not be planted. It was only Nexon’s plant that did not grow  and he did the same thing as directed while others did not. Others manipulated the whole thing to create a good impression that was totally fake. Hence those are not reliable at all. They did not actually nurture and grow seeds but actually purchased fresh plants from market to present here.
